Chip Carving Lap Desk - Sides
SIDES - The sides are 10" long. They angle up from 2 3/8'" high at the front to 3 7/8" high at the rear, having an upward slope of 1 1/2" over the 10" distance from the front to the back. Two grooves in both the top and base, spaced 10" apart, hold the two sides in place. Be sure to match the location of these grooves in the top and the base.

INSIDE CAVITY - The back is open, not closed as is the front, creating an open cavity. The chips that you sweep through the holes in the top fall into this cavity. The 10" long center molding helps to keep the chips from falling out. To dispose of the chips, just tip the desk on its back and give it a few smacks with your hand.

This inside cavity can also serve as a handy container. You can store your work piece, tools, patterns, etc. in there when you are not carving.
