I used 1/2" Birch plywood for the base, sides, front, and top. The trim is 3/4" x 3/4" half-round oak molding. A local home supply store sold 2' x 4' x 1/2" Birch ply for about $12. An 8' piece of molding (only 5' needed) was about $5. Supplies included glue, glue brush, brush on polyurethane finish, brush, and sandpaper. I used a router, 1/4" round-over bit, 31/64" plywood bit, table router, and an electric drill with a 1" Forstner bit.
